Coronavirus and the Congregation

Notice to Our Members and Friends Regarding Services

Until further notice please observe the following:

  • If you don’t feel well, please do not come to church.
  • Masks are optional. Masks are available in the building.
  • All people are encouraged to continue to use hand sanitizer.
  • Groups using the church may meet anytime when ready following the same guidelines plus their group’s specific protocols.
  • If you come down with COVID-19 after attending a church service or gathering, please contact Nancy Hallock at (315) 533-7067 or at njhallock@gmail.com.

We will review these guidelines periodically as the situation changes and will provide updates as needed.

The Board of Trustees

As new cases of the coronavirus (CoVid-19) are reported in the United States and around the world, the congregation is called to education and caution. The First Universalist Society of Central Square will follow practices recommended by health authorities at the CDC and the NYS Department of Health. We ask that you follow these precautions even if you yourself are not at serious risk as many members of our community are at high risk. Updates including postponements and cancellations will be announced below and in weekly email announcements.

Many thanks to Rev. Margaret Weis of The First Unitarian Society of Ithaca for writing and sharing this wonderful poem that reminds us that “church” is so much more than physical space. Our beloved building is a wonderful place, but it is the gathering of our hearts that is most important during this uncertain time in our lives.

THE CHURCH IS NOT THE BUILDING

“And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”  Marianne Williamson
